O2 installs 18+ filter on the mobile web

To remove the block, you have to either use a credit card (which will be charged £1, though O2 will give you £2.50 off your next bill) or go into an O2 store with a passport or driver’s license and talk to the staff there. If you don’t drive or have a passport, and you don’t have a credit card, then you’re pretty much out of luck.

Do not get a phone on the O2 network! The problem with filters is that they always block content in grey areas (art), pretty much anything that they think is ‘adult.’ This includes sex ed resources. And requiring payment or identification to opt-out is infuriating.

Of course, as with any filter of this sort, it’s easy to break through it. I managed to get some boobs up within 30 seconds, finding them via Reddit onImgur. Another easy method to beat O2’s filter is to use the Opera Mini browser, which routes all content through Opera’s servers to compress it, so it’s not affected by the URL filtering.

Smart Phone Learns Sex

It’s disappointing that blurry images have carried over from network TV to internet TV, but I do appreciate Annie’s and Jackie’s candidness in the sex app episode of AppJudgement.

Android developers may have more freedom but, as seen above, the iPhone apps are lot more useful. Is a Kamasutra guide really the best sex app the Android Market has to offer? The hosts didn’t mention that to get to the real dirty stuff Android users will have to use a third party market app like MiKandi. Unfortunately, there’s too much crap apps to wade through in MiKandi to find anything new worth mentioning. The coolest Android app is still the dildroid.

The phone’s web browser is what you want to use. Most all sexy sites have their own mobile version, including tube sites. Though some have restriction like limiting the amount of videos you can stream for free.

There’s also the option of using something like Gmote to stream mp4 files to your phone from your home network. The last resort would be to manually transfer files.

The Fear of Sex Strikes Again

Google Instant says, “No.”

Today Google added something new to their popular search engine. They call it Google Instant. Try it. With Instant enabled search results appear as you type. Pressing “Enter” or clicking “Search” is no longer necessary.  That is, unless you’re searching for something that will result in links harmful to children. You know, anything in the field of SEX!!!!

Mashable.com reports:

Google’s Johanna Wright, director of product management for Instant, responded that Instant Search’s inability to predict your sexy queries is actually a safety feature to protect children.

I find it ridiculous, but I understand the idea. Google doesn’t want to show you the results for “butt” before you type the “e” in “buttermilk frosting recipe.” ARGH!! My day has been ruined! Google offended me by showing me Glenn Beck when I searched for Glenn Shadix. Why, Google!

But thanks, Google, for protecting our angels from links to vaginas when they’re searching for kitties. Oh, look at that; you forgot to censor “snuff film.” I was typing “snuggie.” LOL.

I also want to thank Ben Parr of Mashable.com for this cliche:
We can only imagine the questions a seven-year-old girl would ask when she started typing “Pussycat Dolls.”

Tell the girl that ‘pussy’ is also a slang for female genitalia. It’s that simple. This isn’t the ’50s or ’80s. Is it? Oh shit. Don’t tell me we’re living in yet another conservative era.

If Google Instant becomes the default, certain companies won’t be happy about not benefiting from quicker clicks. Has anyone told Naked Juice yet? The least Google could do is to liberate instant results for those who elect to search with Safesearch off.

Some of you reading might be wondering why I’m ranting about my lack of instant satisfaction as I type “fucking on the moon.” I am merely observing a world where a company feels compelled to treat the search results for “Kinsey” as too objectionable for instant viewing. It disgusts me.

Guess what also doesn’t work with Instant: a search for “Google is Evil.” “Google is Good” works fine though.

From Erotic to Adult to Censored

You remember, right, that last year Craigslist renamed their erotic services section to “adult services” and began charging for and manually checking each “adult” ad. It turned out to be an unsatisfactory effort for the numerous state attorneys labeling Craigslist as a major sex-trafficking hub. Over the weekend Craigslist removed the adult section from its US sites. Either they caved under the pressure or began a temporary protest.

Craigslist has been doing nothing wrong within US laws. Under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act a website cannot be made liable for what its users post.

Craigslist has the unfortunate role of the scapegoat for now. As Gawker notes, the internet is not scarce on alternatives.

Bing, Your New Porn Companion

Following the launch of Google Image Search (early 2000s), the service quickly gained the reputation as “the place” to find free porn. You switched ‘safe search’ to ‘off’, typed in a dirty word and you were home free. Actually, it still works today. But…

Video killed the image (porn) star.

Nowadays there are sites like Fantasti.cc or Tubaholic, aggregators of free porn videos from tube sites like Xvideos. Google has its own video search engine, but they’re late and lacking. Only just recently did naughty videos begin appearing in their results, and scantly so. A link to turn off ‘safe search’ was, also, only just provided. All in all, Google Video isn’t living up to its porn Images past.

No worry, they’ll have to revitalize their porn search now that Bing has arrived. Bing, it’s Microsoft’s new search engine, and it makes Google look dull. The web and image search aren’t anything too special. Bing Video Search, however, is what Google Image Search was in 2002.

There’s so much porn to be found! Turn off ‘safe search’ and you’ll find that Bing includes more porn tube sites in their results than Google. Its killer feature, though, is its thumbnail preview. Similar to T’nA flix, hovering over a thumbnail plays a short video preview—but Bing does it with sound!

It’s not perfect. Like Google Video Search, most porny videos must be played on the original site. Not a biggie. Not unlike Google Video Search, there’s no way to filter non-porn videos. Wasn’t much of problem with Images search was it? Nor is it here. Bing doesn’t index some of the better known sites: Redtube or Xvideos.

Looking for porn videos is the most fun on Bing (video thumbnails!). But with its inclusion of pesky sites like YouTube and exclusion of some popular porn sites, Bing isn’t practical for in-depth smut searches. For the best results Tubaholic or Fantasti.cc are probably better search tools.

Microsoft’s Bing proves to be worthy competition for Google, the search monopolist. Soon Google will have to copy Bing and try to one-up Microsoft. Then Microsoft will follow and so on.

Free-porn seekers always win.

Oh, and about Internet video killing the adult industry: I’ll have write an update on that some time soon.
